The result is the most built Schwimmwagen of all time in the world and, with its capabilities on land and water, the most successful Schwimmwagen of all time, which was even recognised by the enemies of the war at the time. In today's off-road competitions, VW Schwimmwagen have repeatedly outclassed even modern competitors due to their low weight.

Between autumn 1942 and summer 1944, over 14,000 units were produced at the Volkswagen factory near Fallersleben.
