Description "FUTABA HPS CT701 Car High Power Low Profile servo with met.geh. and MG (SR capable)"
Experience the new HPS servo generation! The most powerful Futaba RC car low profile servo ever!

The Futaba HPS-CT701 is specially designed for RC cars and sets new standards. A new HPS brushless motor was developed for the HPS servos, which remains significantly cooler during operation. Together with the new HPS technology, there is less power consumption over the entire operating time. Like any S.BUS2 servo, the HPS-CT701 can be connected to all conventional receivers with PWM modulation and can be optimally adapted to the respective operating conditions through programming.

The servo is fully compatible for the SR mode ("Super Response": fastest signal transmission) of the T4PM, T7XC, T7PX, T7PXR and T10PX, but can of course also be operated on all other Futaba receivers and with all other Futaba transmitters in normal mode will. This does not require any mode settings on the servo.

Features:
  • S.BUS2 high performance HPS digital servo
  • Metal body and metal gears
  • HPS brushless motor technology
  • SR compatible (Super Response)
  • High Voltage
  • ball bearing
  • Low-wear potentiometer
  • High resolution
  • High repeatability

Specifications:
  • Speed 60°: 0.07 s (7.4 V)
  • Torque: 30.0 kgcm (7.4 V)
  • Voltage: 6.0 - 8.4V
  • Control frequency: 50 - 300 Hz
  • Weight: 53g
  • Size: 40.5 x 21.0 x 26.2mm

The servos can be addressed in different ways:
1) With the handy programmer SBC-1
2) On the PC with the USB adapter CIU-3
3) At the S.BUS connection of the transmitter

The following parameters can be set:
  • S.BUS channel assignment
  • Servo reverse
  • Soft start (on / off)
  • Mode selection in the event of signal failure hold or free
  • Soft Servo Run (On / Off)
  • Servo position (servo tester)
  • Servo center adjustment +/- 300 µs (approx. 30 degrees)
  • Servo speed, 0.39 - 9 seconds per 45 degrees
  • Setting the dead zone (deadband)
  • Servo travel adjustment left and right separately, approx. 50 - 175%
  • Starting power
  • Cushioning
  • Holding power
  • ID storage

The new HPS servo technology
High power with lower power consumption - how does that work?

To put it simply: At the beginning of a servo movement (start-up behavior), a significantly larger current pulse is sent to the new HPS servo motor for a very short time than with previous servo motors. However, as the servo movement continues, the HPS motors and associated HPS control developed by Futaba engineers require significantly less energy to maintain performance. This results in a significantly lower current draw from the battery over the operating time, i.e. the operating time is noticeably and measurably longer with the same battery. This advantage can only be used if all the necessary boundary conditions are right and all components are optimally matched to each other. The main concern here is the power supply for the receiving system and the servos.

The following information generally applies to every reception position when strong servos are used, but especially when using HPS servos:

The power supply must be optimized in each individual component for all occurring conditions. This applies to the entire chain of functions and starts with the choice of battery and ends with the servo. With the HPS servos, the primary concern is to be able to supply the servo with short-term, high impulse currents (peaks) over the entire functional chain (see starting behavior of the HPS servos), and not necessarily with high continuous currents. Only then can the performance of the HPS servos be fully exploited.

The power supply must be dimensioned in such a way that a constant, continuous power supply is guaranteed and any voltage fluctuations (caused by current peaks) are kept as low as possible in order to prevent receivers or gyros etc. from "rebooting" (see below).
