VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) RC models are often only a compromise when it comes to performance. If you float very stably at the expense of speed and agility, you are very agile, on the other hand, it means a lot of stick work for the pilot when it goes from hovering into forward flight and back. E-Flite Convergence has changed all this. The perfect design and the specially developed flight control software handle this demanding conversion so confidently that you feel safe right from the first flight.
The E-flite® Mini Convergence® VTOL is the smaller version of the popular Convergence vertical take-off plane that can now even fly indoors. The Mini Covergence uses an effective delta wing with three brushless motors. Two motors are mounted pivotably on the leading edge of the wing, the third motor is fixed in the tail. In hovering flight, the wing motors move into an upright position and thus provide lift with the rear engine. In forward flight, the engines return to the direction of flight and control is via the gas and the Elevon rudders on the trailing edges of the wings. To support the rudder, the engines are individually controlled in forward flight and thus provide impressive turning manoeuvres and rotation rates.
Two flight modes
The beginner-friendly stability mode and the Acroflug mode allow a wide range of use and a lot of fun. Stability Mode
In stability mode, the possible roll and pitch tilt angles are limited in hover and forward flight and after releasing the joysticks, the convergence stabilizes automatically. This way you can take off and land like a professional even if you have never flown a vertical take-off aircraft before.
In Acro Mode there are no angle limits or self-leveling in any phase of flight. During multirotor flight, the Mini Convergence will handle like a conventional multirotor aircraft that pitches and banks in whatever direction you want it to fly. It can even flip and roll like other multirotor aircraft. In airplane flight, Acro Mode lets you perform a wide range of aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and more.
Simple and ingenious
Unlike other VTOL aircraft that tilt the entire wing and require four engines to fly, the Convergence uses an effective Delta Wing design with three engines. Two engines are mounted on the leading edge of the wing and provide lift together with the stern engine. In forward flight, the two engines are swivelled forward and controlled by the throttle and the elevator rudders on the trailing edges of the wings. To support the rudder, the engines are individually controlled in forward flight and thus provide impressive turning manoeuvres and rotation rates. Automatic transition
The transition from hovering to forward flight is made at the push of a button. The controller then automatically controls the two swivel motors to the correct position and deactivates the rear motor.
The flight control software that makes it easy
The heart of the system is the specially adapted software which enables almost every pilot to fly the Mini Convergence in the shortest time. Simple setup
The Bind-N- Fly version can be operated with any 6 + channel Spektrum DSMX flight remote control with full range. Mounted in the model and connected to the flight controller is serial spectrum receiver which makes complicated programming unnecessary. Thus, the flight mode (acro or stability mode) is switched on the remote control with the gear switch and the AUX1 switch is used to switch from hovering to forward flight.
