"Hammertime!?"
Traxxas has been waiting a long time for the release of a new vehicle.
Yesterday, on 18.3.2022, Traxxas now presented its new "hammer", the Sledge!
We have been checked out this brand new Monster Truggy ...
When you think "Traxxas has fallen asleep", it comes really thick....
When this year in January the novelties of the RC CAR manufacturers were presented, I thought to myself, "... come on Traxxas, please show us something new on the market"...
Few month later, Traxxas released a new Car - the "Traxxas Sledge 6S".
Because today they just throw a "Porsche killer" on the market!
Traxxas has left the base of the usual chassis builds of their RC off-road models and goes back to solid, decades, proven base technology and still designs its own 1/8 Truggy with aluminum plate chassis construction.
But do not look over the crown wheel.
There is a fundamental change in the transmission in terms of stability. The ring gear has been made thicker and larger. A 1/8 Truggy with this power, a must have to increase durability - and yet it is not invulnerable - so do not misunderstand! Adapt your driving style to the model ;)
The diffs have more "Steel"
The differentials (diffs), as well as the complete drivetrain, were bred up to 6S. Gears were enlarged and forged to be almost "bombproof" by using "more steel".
The Sledge 6S Monster Truggy explodes the status quo and is the new standard for extreme 6s durability, or so Traxxas calls it itself.

Neu konstruiert - Aluminium Platte - T-Bar
Eine tiefgezogene Aluminiumplatte mit einem Mehrpunkt-Verbundträgersystem wird duch eine T-Bar in voller Länge gestützt. Dieses System wurde wiederum von Traxxas als Patent angemeldet und ist somit nur in TRX RC Car Modellen vorzufinden.
Kurz und knapp - der Traxxas Sledge ist auf einem soliden Fundament aufgebaut.
One heart and one soul...
The controller, Velineon VXL-6s, the heart of the Sledge's comes "old proven" but in new clothes. It have been improved - it more stable and more powerful now!
The Velineon VXL-6S has been tuned to the "big powerhouse", the 2000 kV brushless motor both hardware-wise and software-wise. Both now deliver more efficient performance data together and offer more power from the bottom out.
In terms of performance, there is never anything to complain about with Traxxas - especially since they still carry the slogan "The fastest name in radio control" - .... rightly so!

Im Großen und ganzen...
some things have remained the same. Why not, it would make no sense to change proven when the maxim is already achieved. Thus, all electronic components are "waterproof (splash-proof)", the plastic on the model is reinforced with special additives, but still flexible and the body is sensibly protected with attachments against "extrernatural loads".
Already from the factory is in the Sledge 6S a steering servo of the "Monster Series (High Torque 347)". These servos are stronger and have more steam (at HV)!
This makes perfect sense for the Sledge, because of the weight and speed large forces act on it.
The controller, Velineon VXL-6s, has again the well-known telemetry function preset, but to use it, you have to retrofit the TRAXXAS LINK WIRELESS MODULE to the remote control to be able to retrieve the values.
In order to keep the brushless monster truggy well under control, especially as a newcomer at the beginning, there is the Traxxas Stability Management (called TSM) as a support already installed in the model from the factory.
It keeps the RC car on smooth surfaces in the track. But don't get it wrong: it does not detect obstacles and the car is not slowed down in a controlled manner!
So far we are "thank God" not yet - otherwise someone will think of that in the future you can go in about "autonomous RC car driving" :)
The remote control, TQI, is upscale and actually fits pretty much any hand - it is ergonomically shaped.
As a standard, 2.4Ghz is actually moved in with all qualitatively well-positioned manufacturers - FM and crystals would also be negligent, since we have a lot of interference factors in our age. Especially since the transmission of the radio signals should be transmitted quite fast and "safe" - the box drives even at full settings and power smooth 70mph (+ ...quite a lot of plus)!

I am a fan of these aluminum plate companions. I think it's great that Traxxas once took the step away from the innovative compact builds and brought a leaning high quality "standard" chassis on the market.
The model has the usual good electronics and many useful, reinforced parts already installed from the factory.
The chassis looks tidy and very well laid out. The differentials and the whole drivetrain seem beefy-stable and doesn't trigger any concerns for me. In general, I find the 6S Monster Truggy to be very solid - the body looks aggressive in a wicked look, but still not too over the top - you get the impression of "declaring war on toy looks".
The Traxxas Sledge 6S Monster Truggy 4WD...
...it definitely signals - bash it... wild! :)
