Description "R&G Talcum powder, can/ 820 g"
Talc is a magnesium silicate hydrate used as an important reinforcing, filling and lubricating agent.

Talc is used to fill polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resins, among others for the production of artificial stone and putties.Talc reduces shrinkage during curing and leads to improved grindability in the putties, among other things, but reduces their resistance to hydrolysis. Talc is free of asbestos and quartz.

  • Produces very light, easily grindable filling compounds.
  • Reduces the shrinkage of resin systems
  • Improves some mechanical properties
  • Thickening of resins
  • Moulding powder for metal casting in silicone.

Description:
Light, grey-white, soft powder. Not soluble in water, organic solvents, dilute acids and alkalis.

Processing:
Talc is mixed carefully in the resin without lumps. The quantity to be added depends on the desired setting of the final product. From an addition quantity of approx. 200 %, the resins become trowelable.

Technical data:
  • Specific weight: 2.75 g/cm³

  • Water content: < 1 %
  • Bulk density: approx. 700 g/l
  • Addition quantity: up to 300 % by weight

Fields of application:
The largest area of application is in industry. In many applications, talc is used as a filler and reinforcing agent, e.g. for printing paper, sealing and flooring compounds, polishing agents, insulating agents, underbody protection, many plastics such as polystyrene and polyamide, polyester filler, facade, glaze and matt paints, anti-corrosion paints and adhesive primers. The pharmaceutical industry uses talc as a lubricant for tablets and as a base for medical powders. Talc is a component of many cosmetic products. It is often contained in baby powder. As the most important component of soapstone, talc is found in the handicraft creation of sculptures. In foodstuffs, talc is a separating agent and carrier.
